Dr. Oikawa
Dr. Oikawa has always been deeply interested in helping others achieve health. She believes health comes from a body in balance. Nearly 20 years into private practice she found her practice evolving; wanting to offer her patients even more opportunity to address the issues that were prohibiting them from really thriving.
As a lifelong athlete, Dr. Oikawa has always had a vested interest in human performance, and optimizing function. When facing her own injuries and other health related issues she found that addressing the root cause led her to better outcomes. She also noticed that often the most powerful solutions were simple. Nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management, simple but essential pieces in the journey to optimizing her own health. These experiences informed her decision in 2018 to begin her educational training in Functional Medicine. In 2021, Dr. Oikawa was accepted by the Institute for Functional Medicine’s certification program. In early 2023, Dr. Oikawa graduated from this program as an IFM Certified Practitioner.
In many ways functional medicine is rooted in the same philosophy as Chiropractic. A holistic perspective, treating each patient as an unique individual, where care is personalized and anchored in determining the root cause. The belief that when the body is in balance it is capable of handling stress, illness, injury in an elegant and healing way.

What are people saying?
“My first appointment with Dr. Darcy Oikawa was well over 10 years ago. I think that Darcy knows every bone and muscle in the human body, what it does, how it is supposed to work (correctly), why it might not be and giving solutions. Once I had a groin injury. I went to my primary care physician who after several questions announced physical therapy as a remedy. I contacted Darcy, she asked questions and suggested, instead, I might have a stress fracture. X-rays revealed that I did. Over the years, I have seen and felt Darcy’s techniques change with her ever pursuit of learning how to do her “art” better. She takes the time to explain the why, where, when, and how…”

“I've been going to Dr. Darcy Oikawa for well over a year now, she's awesome! After tearing my calf I've struggled with alignment issues, and the process of getting back to running and triathlons has been long and painful. As a runner and athlete herself, she knows the rebuilding process and she's been the most knowledgeable and articulate healer I've met when it comes to explaining how my body is responding and what is needed to get back to full health. I have 110% confidence she has me on the right track. On top of all of this, she also happens to be a super friendly face that is genuinely interested in my life, that makes her one of the best in my mind.”

The Practice
What is Functional Medicine?
Functional Medicine is an evidence based systems biology approach. Care is personalized and customized, a team approach where the doctor and patient embark on a journey together to determine the root cause(s) and devise a treatment that is rooted in lifestyle intervention, like nutrition, sleep, exercise, and stress management. Functional Medicine practitioners look “upstream” to consider the complex web of interactions in the patient’s history, physiology, and lifestyle that can lead to illness.
What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a hands on approach with the goal of optimizing function. While many are familiar with chiropractic care as it pertains to the spine, chiropractic care really addresses dysfunction in any joint and its downstream consequences. Treatment is personalized, with the goal of optimizing function thereby tapping into the body’s unique ability to heal itself.
