We are currently not in network for chiropractic care or functional health care.
Unfortunately, insurance companies do not currently reimburse for the time needed to appropriately investigate the details of your history, health and labs/imaging. Most insurance companies do not currently support services directed more at preventative care targeted to the individual patient. For these reasons Dr. Oikawa does not contract with any insurance companies, but provides care with payment due at the time of service.
Depending on your health insurance plan, and specifically for PPO plans, you are often able to apply some of the lab testing and in office appointment fees towards your deductible. And once your deductible is met you may receive coverage for a portion of these fees. You can request an itemized superbill to submit to your insurance to apply these costs towards your deductible. We will provide this superbill after receiving payment for the appointment.
If you are a chiropractic patient with out of network coverage, once your deductible is met we can submit to your insurance for you or provide you with an itemized superbill.

Dr. Oikawa recommends a comprehensive blood panel at least once per year, for her functional health patients; most commonly run through the major Labratories, LabCorp or Quest. Testing through LabCorp and Quest are often covered by PPO insurance plans.
Lab testing run through specialty labs, allows for a more comprehensive and accurate understanding of your health and body’s function, unfortunately most of these tests are not covered by insurance. The necessity for tests can be discussed, especially where the financial burden of treatment is of significant concern. We currently use Rupa Health for ordering these labs, and this allows for a low cost option to ordering. This also allows you the chance to review the invoice prior to ordering.

Functional health follow up visits may be done via phone or video. For video appointments I use a HIPAA-compliant telemedicine module integrated in the EHR.

No. Prescribing medication is outside of Dr. Oikawa’s scope of practice. She recommends consulting with the appropriate practitioner to discuss these questions.

We request cancellation with a minimum notice of 24 business hours (i.e., Monday appointments must be cancelled by Thursday) for all established chiropractic patient care. We request that all new patient appointment cancellations, both chiropractic and functional health, be prior to 72 business hours of the appointment. The first cancellation made with less than the required time is 50% of the appointment fee, the second cancellation is 80% of the appointment fee, and beyond that the full appointment fee will be charged without notification given in the requested time frame.
